Welcoming Heather Whitney as a Basic Sciences Assistant Professor

Heather Whitney

Heather M. Whitney, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Radiology. Heather received a M.S. in Medical Physics from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and a M.S. and Ph.D.  in Physics from Vanderbilt University. There, she trained in the Institute of Imaging Science with John Gore as her advisor and conducted research in polymer gel dosimetry, a field that combines both magnetic resonance imaging and radiation therapy. Most recently, she was a Visiting Scholar in Radiology at the University of Chicago and then a Research Assistant Professor of Radiology, working in the lab of Maryellen Giger.  In her new role, she looks forward to continuing her research in artificial intelligence of medical imaging and computer-aided diagnosis, particularly in gynecological imaging, and expanding her research into additional modalities and clinical tasks.
