Radiology Simulation Program

The University of Chicago Department of Radiology has offered a contrast code simulation course since 2014, and is currently developing an image-guided spine procedure simulation course.

Procedure and management of adverse reactions to contrast simulation training has unique benefits.  Training provides a safe and constructive environment to learn stress and crisis management skills away from the immediacy of patient care.  It also offers an opportunity to strengthen teamwork across the care providing team as you train side-by-side with faculty members, trainees, technologists, and nurses.

Contrast Code Simulation Course

The team is led by Assistant Professor of Radiology Dr. Lydia Chelala, who has received simulation instructor training at the Center for Medical SimulationLindsay Yang and Shaif Yusufishaq, fourth-year radiology residents, assist with the program's operations and research.  Since the program's founding, the team has educated others about their work at the University of Chicago Medicine Quality and Safety Symposium in 2015 and submitted an abstract that was presented as an electronic poster at the American College of Radiology 2015.

We are able to offer these resources with the assistance of the Simulation Center at the University of Chicago.
