Women in Radiology Inaugural Grand Rounds Welcomes Dr. Kate McGillen

On September 28th, our department's women in radiology (WiR) group welcomed Dr. Kate McGillen to campus for the inaugural WiR Grand Rounds lecture. This lecture series was created to bring inspirational and influential women into our department to share their research and clinical expertise. Dr. McGillen is an associate professor of Radiology at Penn State Hershey. Her research focuses on ultrasound with a focus on collaborating with other specialties on high-end applications such as contrast ultrasound, elastography, and endometriosis imaging. Dr. McGillen spoke to our department on contrast ultrasound – a high-value tool for diagnostic problem-solving highlighting the opportunities which exist for the application of elastography in tough clinical abdominal imaging cases. The day was packed full of networking and educational events, and we appreciated all that Dr. McGillen brought to our team this year. We look forward to hosting more influential women in the future.

This lecture series was envisioned by our recently graduated chief resident, Dr. Jessica Telleria-Cano, and was generously co-funded by Radiology departmental leadership and a grant submitted by Dr. Telleria-Cano to the University of Chicago BSD D&I Office.
