Congratulations to Dr. Steffen Sammet on being selected to receive funding from the UChicago Global for his research project entitled "Development of Deep Learning Models for Predicting Breast Cancer Aggressiveness in African Women”. This one-year grant will cover institutions in Africa and provide $6,000 in travel funds for conferences and meetings.
Dr. Sammet, as Primary Investigator, will lead a team of physicians and scientists to establish deep learning models based on mammography images, risk factors and clinical data for the prediction of breast cancer in African women. The intent of this grant is also to enable his team to apply to the UChicago Global funding mechanism for Sub-Saharan Africa set to launch in January for funding in FY24.
