At present, our group is pursuing three distinct but related research directions, all broadly related to the field of tomographic image reconstruction and inverse problems. The first direction involves extension of our work in CT image reconstruction to the problems of dose reduction and material identification by use of spectral CT. The second direction involves a collaboration with investigators at the Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to develop novel imaging strategies and image reconstruction algorithms in an emerging modality called x-ray fluorescence computed tomography (XFCT). The third direction, in collaboration with researchers at the University-affiliated Marine Biological Laboratory, seeks to that apply our expertise in inverse problems to the development of new computational microscopy approaches including multi-view light sheet imaging and polarized fluorescence imaging for molecular orientation.
