Dr. Baihui Yu joined the Department of Radiology as an Assistant Professor and Clinical Diagnostic Physicist on September 1st. Baihui received her PhD in 2016 in engineering physics from Tsinghua University in China. After spending a few years in the industry, she became a Postdoctoral Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School from 2022 to 2023. She was matched to our Imaging Physics Residency Program in July 2023 and has now graduated and stayed.
In her new role as a clinical physicist, Baihui is looking forward to combining her research background in imaging reconstruction and processing with clinical duties to improve the image quality of different modalities and guarantee patient safety. Baihui is currently developing an analysis software using a spherical phantom to assess the performance of ultrasound scanners.
When not working, Baihui loves spending time with her husband, Dufan, and their 8-year-old daughter, Chloe. She also enjoys city life, such as shopping on Michigan Ave and exploring restaurants in downtown Chicago.
