Radiology Business highlights Drs. Ahmed's and Funaki's article on IR's more prominent role during the pandemic

Drs. Osman Ahmed's and Brian Funaki's article Interventional Radiology is an operational and financial hedge for hospitals during COVID-19 was highlighted in a news posting published on Radiology Business on June 24, 2020. The journal article was co-authored by Dr. Mikin Patel, Interventional Radiologist at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

The Radiology Business news article, Interventional radiology taking on a more prominent role in hospitals during the pandemic, provides an overview of Drs. Patel's and Ahmed's journal article which details how "in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, IR has taken a more prominent role in the hospital, accounting for an increased share of both procedural volumes and gross charges.” It also details how the data analyzed in the article "demonstrate that, while other procedural services such as surgery, cardiac catheterization lab and endoscopy have suffered decreased procedural volume and charges, IR has filled the void.” The full article, published by the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, is available here
