Kate Feinstein to receive the Distinguished Service Award from the Illinois Radiological Society

The Illinois Radiological Society will present its 2023 Distinguished Service Awards to two local radiologists for their outstanding leadership and many years of dedicated service to radiology. The IRS Distinguished Service Award or Gold Medal is awarded in recognition of highly notable and distinguished service to radiology and to the Illinois Radiological Society and will be presented to Kate A. Feinstein, MD for outstanding leadership. Congratulation Dr. Feinstein!

Born in Chicago, Dr. Kate Feinstein is a graduate of Swarthmore College and received her medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. Following an internship in internal medicine at University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago, she completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, followed by a pediatric radiology fellowship at Children’s Memorial Hospital (now Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital) of Chicago. Her first position was at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

In 1989, Dr. Feinstein returned to Chicago and Children’s Memorial. She accepted an appointment at Rush University in 1999 and then joined the faculty of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2000 where she holds the academic title of Professor of Radiology and Surgery and serves as Section Chief of Pediatric Radiology and Vice Chair for Academic Affairs for the University of Chicago Medicine Department of Radiology.

Dr. Feinstein is Past President of both the Illinois Radiological Society and the Chicago Radiological Society. A Fellow of the American College of Radiology, she has served Illinois and the Society for Pediatric Radiology as either Councilor or Alternate Councilor to the American College of Radiology since 1998. In addition to serving on numerous committees for both the Illinois Radiological Society and Chicago Radiological Society, Dr. Feinstein has served on the ACR Strategic Planning and Compliance Committee and Committee on Continuous Professional Improvement (Commission on Publications and Lifelong Learning) for many years, as well as several other ACR Committees and Commissions.

Previous awards for Dr. Feinstein include the Distinguished Service Award or Gold Medal from the Chicago Radiological Society, the William W. Goding Award for Exceptional Service from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, and the University of Chicago Bucksbaum Institute Senior Faculty Scholar.
