Celebrated for the first time in Georgia almost 90 years ago, Doctor's Day was created by Dr.Charles B. Almond's wife, Eudora Brown Almond in 1933. The community mailed greeting cards and placed flowers on the graves of deceased doctors. The first ether anesthetic for surgery was administered the same day and the patient swore he felt nothing during surgery! On February21, 1991, President George H.W. Bush proclaimed National Doctors Day to honor the nation’s physicians for their dedication, leadership and contributions to society and the community.
To celebrate Doctor's Day, the department held an Appreciation Breakfast. Thank you to all who came to celebrate! View the event flyer here.
