Ken Bader, PhD has received grant funding by the Focused Ultrasound Foundation and the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation. With this grant, Dr. Bader will research treatment options for neuroblastoma.
Despite the advancement of treatment options for neuroblastoma, survival rates for patients with high-risk disease remain poor. To address the heterogenous nature of neuroblastoma, the long-term objective of Dr. Bader's research is to develop a focused ultrasound technique to simultaneously ablate tumor mechanically and synergistically increase the efficacy of standard interventions. Using a murine model of high-risk neuroblastoma, these grant-funded studies will aim to (i) determine the efficacy of mechanical ablation combined with chemotherapy, and (ii) assess changes in the tumor microenvironment following insonation. This will establish the role of mechanical ablation for treatment of neuroblastoma patients.
Congratulations, Dr. Bader!
