All applicants are invited to an informal dinner the night before the interview. This will serve as a casual opportunity to meet some of our residents and learn more about our program and life in Chicago. Each group will receive more specific details in the weeks leading up to the interview.
There are two interview groups per day. The first group should plan on arriving by 7:30 a.m. and the second group by 10:00 a.m. You will receive more specific details when you schedule your interview. Please plan on starting your day in room Q-208. If you are driving, please bring your parking ticket and we will validate it for you.
After a brief orientation with our Program Director, you will interview with 4 faculty members and receive one on one time with a resident. During your day with us, you will tour our department, have lunch with our residents and have the opportunity to attend our noon conference. If you have special interests, please let us know in advance and we can arrange a tour of our research facility or meeting with a particular faculty member.
If you are a member of the morning group, expect to be finished by 1:30 p.m. The afternoon group is usually done by 3:30 p.m. Please consider these times if you plan to fly out of Chicago on the same day as your interview. Allow at least 2 hours to reach either airport from the University.
Concurrent applications to both the IR/DR and diagnostic radiology residency programs are accepted. There is no preference given to students who apply to one program, nor is there any aversion to students who apply to both programs. Applicants will be ranked in either or both programs accordingly and without bias. If you choose to apply to both the IR/DR and diagnostic radiology residency programs, only a single interview visit is needed, as you will meet with faculty from interventional and diagnostic radiology.
