Resident Dr Telleria provided Medical Students Hands-on Radiology Experience at the AMA Annual Meeting

Second year radiology resident, Dr. Jessica Telleria and the American College of Radiology's Medical Education and Student Outreach (MESO) team provided medical students hands-on radiology experience as part of the “Totally Rad” workshops offered during the American Medical Association’s annual meeting on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

During these workshops, medical students had the opportunity to practice procedures like ultrasound-guided biopsies and aspirations, and interventional radiology procedures such as catheterization and IVC filter placement and retrieval. Students also learned how radiation oncologists plan radiation treatment for their patients, using special software that targets tumors while avoiding vital organs. These workshops are part of the efforts by ACR's MESO team to expose medical students to a career in radiology and dispel myths about the specialty.
