The iBIO (Illinois Biotechnology Innovation Organization) has selected Dr. Maryellen Giger as this year’s recipient of the iCON Innovator Award. The iCON Innovator Award recognizes an active researcher/scientist within the ranks of life sciences education who is acknowledged by his or her peers as a leader in the contemporary teaching of, and scholarship in, biotechnology and its related sciences. The award also recognizes those scientists who demonstrate leadership potential at the frontier of knowledge in the life sciences and conduct research that is anticipated to enhance economic development in the State of Illinois.
Dr. Giger will be presented this award during the iBIO Institute’s 12th Annual iCON Awards Dinner on Tuesday, October 2nd at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The iCON awards supports the mission of the iBIO Institute, which orchestrates business leadership in delivery of world-class educational after-school programs and summer STEM camps for girls grades 3-8 in underserved Illinois schools.
