The Interventional and Vascular Radiology fellowship at the University of Chicago Hospitals
is a one year ACGME-accredited program . The section has three accredited
fellowship positions per year. The fellows must have successfully
completed a diagnostic radiology residency prior to the start of the fellowship.
Each fellow is expected to be able to perform all procedures by the end
of the fellowship year. During the year, fellows are expected to
be involved in resident teaching while residents rotate on service.
In addition, the fellows also give didactic lectures and case conferences
to residents throughout the year. Though the primary focus is clinical
service, the fellows are encouraged to participate in ongoing
Research
and clinical trials. Presentation of Research
at conferences is also strongly encouraged. The Chicago Society of
Vascular and Interventional Radiology holds monthly meeting and the fellows
are encouraged to participate.
In addition to one on one teaching, the section faculty will also give didactic lectures and case
based conference to the fellows. The fellows will be involved with
vascular conference, morbidity and mortality conference, and participate
in journal club. The Department of Radiology at the University of
Chicago Hospitals is outstanding, with a national reputation.
The chairman is Dr. Richard Baron. The section chief is Dr. Brian Funaki. We appreciate your
interest in our program.
